Hillary’s Huggable Hens started not as a business, but as an act of care.

 

After years of working in nonprofit and community-centered spaces, Hillary noticed a growing need for emotional grounding and comfort in people’s everyday lives—especially for those who often care for others but struggle to find space for themselves. To deal with her onw personal loss and as a lifelong crafter, she turned to yarn, fabric and thread as a form of creative therapy, and soon a small flock of plush chickens began to take shape.

What began as gifts for friends surprisingly turned into something much bigger—a joyful way to spark connection, conversation, and care. Each hen was made with someone specific in mind: a tired teacher, a grieving neighbor, a burned-out social worker, a teen navigating depression. The chickens didn’t fix anything—but they offered presence, softness, and just enough whimsy to remind people that they mattered.

From there, Hillary’s Huggable Hens was born.
